Students, Parents and Guardians,
We are down to the last two weeks! This has been a difficult school year that has presented us with challenges unlike any we have faced before. While many of the restrictions and mandates we have had to adhere to are starting to loosen up they have not been completely lifted and we still have many guidelines and rules that we must take into consideration when planning our events. As we proceed into the final month of the school year we wanted to provide you with information on many important academic matters as well as some insight into what we are planning in regard to many of our annual spring events. This letter offers an overview of many of our important spring events. As we finalize plans for events we will add or modify details below as necessary in order to deliver programs that are safe and in adherence with current PA DOH guidance and our TSD Health and Safety Plan. In many cases we will also issue specific dedicated communications for these events.
3rd MkPd Credit Recovery (CCR)-
As we have throughout the year students who earned an F in a Core Subject area class or graduation requirement this past marking period will be assigned an Ongoing Core Content Remediation Course (CCR) through Edgenuity. These courses will consist only of the material/content for the 3rd marking period. Students will work independently to complete each course and they must be completed with 60% proficiency or better. After the student has completed their course they will come to the Counseling Office where their successful completion will be confirmed and their grade for the marking period will be changed to a 60%(D-) allowing them to maintain adequate progress for the marking period toward earning credit for the year in that particular class. Ongoing Core Content Remediation Courses for Core Subject Classes for Marking Period 3 will be assigned April 6th and must be completed and confirmed in the Counseling Office by May 21st.
Keystone Exams- Unlike the spring of 2020 the US Dept. of Education and PDE have not issued assessment waivers for the 2020-21 school year. This means all students currently enrolled in Algebra 1, 10th Grade English Literature and Biology will take the Keystone Exams in May. PDE has not provided any provisions for remote administration of the assessments so all students will take these exams in person at JBHS regardless of their enrollment status (In-Person or Rocket’s Edge).
